Hold onto your Halloween britches for this one! Out here in Minnesota, people leave goodies at the end of their driveway that they are giving away. I saw this beautiful jewelry box a couple doors down. I let it sit a couple days to see if anyone else was interested. I thought it would be the perfect little rock box, that I could decorate the inside of with more velvets and cushions and really doll it up for some rocks.
On the third day, my neighbor was outside when we walked by and I said, "Hey, I noticed you’re giving away this jewelry box. Do you mind if I take it? I plan to put some crystals in there." Her response, in retrospect, makes a lot of sense.
"Oh, yes, please do take it. My son winds it up all the time and the music just plays and drives me insane," she states.
I grabbed it and after some more small talk, I headed back with this new treasure. I turned it upside and wound it once, just to see what it played. For this specific jewelry box, the lid must be lifted open to start the music. I opened it and played the song until I got home. This was at about 5:30pm.
Once in the house, I put it in my office on the bottom shelf on top of a cardboard box and went about my evening, making dinner, watching an evening show, then getting ready for bed.
The TV was on in the living room, and I was in the bathroom, when I heard a faint sound that sounded like kids or something making a chirping noise. From the bathroom, I yelled at Mike, asking him what was going on. I thought the neighbor boy had come over after 10pm at night! Mike murmurs something and I hear the noise again...
I come out of the bathroom and this time I ask Mike to pause the show. He does, then we both hear it: the jewelry box was playing, in the office, and it sounded like children!!! Eeek! I run into my office to find the jewelry box still in the location I placed it, and still CLOSED!
I looked at Mike. He looked at me. And we both said, "Get it out of the house!"
It has been living on the front porch since that day. And today, it can be yours, for the bargain price of $20. If you love all things eerie, this jewelry box is for you. One could say, "why don't you smudge it?" Bigger question, "Was the neighbor boy really winding it up to annoy his mom?!?" Or was it this spirit, demon, entity, trapped soul?! It's your turn to investigate!
